Twitter has come a long, long way since it was first launched in 2006. In the past decade, it has evolved from a simple, 140-character text message service to a multifaceted platform that enables people to express themselves creatively through tweets, images, videos, hashtags, links and vines.

During the past few months, the company has also added community polls, quick reactions with GIFS and even the ability to share and enjoy periscope broadcasts within Tweets. This is an extremely rich platform that has even been attributed with changing the world.c

As you can see, there is a great deal that this extremely popular platform enables you to do and countless businesses that have a presence on Twitter have achieved immense success as a result.

In the coming months, Twitter’s capabilities will be even greater as the platform rolls out some interesting changes.

Listed below are some of the changes coming soon to Twitter that your business needs to know about:

Media attachments will not be included in the character count

Currently, whenever you post any media attachments onto Twitter (such as images, GIFs, videos and so on), those attachments count as characters within your Tweets. One major change that is going to take place at Twitter is that those attachments will no longer be included within your character count, thus giving your brand even more space to express itself.

@names (handles) will not be included in the character count

Whenever you reply to a tweet, whether from a follower or a customer, the handle is also counted within your 140-character count. However, this is also going to change within the next few months as it will no longer be taken from your available characters. This will make the communication process more fluid and seamless, as you won’t need to be so meticulous when it comes to crafting responses to your customers.

Retweet and Quote Tweet yourself

Another major change to the platform is that you will soon be able to retweet your own tweets! Many brands currently repost old content onto their social media pages – and for good reason, but now the process will be easier than ever. With the simple press of a button you will be able to retweet some of your top tweets for your audience to enjoy again.
