As a business, it’s never been more important to write high-quality content. Gone are the days when good content was enough to succeed. Today, content is king and so too is killer content.

Read on to learn how to write better content, all the time:

1.       Be genuine

Whether you are writing a blog post, a social media post or an email marketing campaign, it is always important to use a genuine voice that is professional yet relatable. Avoid patronising your readers with technical jargon or too many keywords. Speak directly to your audience in a voice they understand and reach out to your readers with helpful tips, advice and questions. People can detect an insincere author from a mile off, so being genuine is one of your first steps towards consistently better content.

2.       Use a call-to-action

Articles and blog posts with a clear call-to-action have been proven to boost engagement and establish value and trust in your brand.

3.       Check and check again

Read and re-read your content before posting it. Nothing screams unprofessional like poorly edited content, so check for spelling and grammar mistakes before clicking the post button.

4.       Mix things up

The World Wide Web is a fast-paced and ever-changing place. As such, it’s essential that you mix things up on your blog and your social media pages. Use infographics, news updates, photos, discussion topics, current affairs and more. Also, recycle some of your most popular posts in a new, exciting format.

5.       Plan ahead

Another way to create consistently better content marketing is to be organised in everything that you do. Create an editorial calendar that indicates what content you are going to create on a given day. Ensure that your calendar includes all blog posts, Facebook posts, tweets and press releases and decide what types of content you want to produce and when. Once you’ve created your timeline, be sure to stick to it!

6.       Analyse

What’s working and what isn’t? The only way you can establish this is to analyse reader response rates using tools such as Google Analytics. Which content performed highly? What impact has that content had on your business goals?

7.       Keep things alive

Never allow your blog or social media pages to become stagnant. Post content on a regular basis to remain in the minds of your readers and keep your brand alive. If you’ve run out of inspiration, fill in the gaps by sharing content from other industry relevant sources.
