1. Interact with your followers

There’s nothing more frustrating that a brand that posts content but never interacts with its followers. Brands on Instagram need to take the time to comment on other posts, repost their favourite posts and use hashtags carefully. These brands should also take the time to reply to the comments left beneath images – this is a great strategy for building brand loyalty and although you can’t be expected to reply to every single comment, even a few replies results in an increase in brand loyalty and followers.

2. Always follow a strategy

Your Instagram account needs to follow a strategy that focuses on the amount of times you post, the style of images that you post, the filters that you use and the wording of your text. Try to maintain cohesiveness across your account so that when your profile is viewed as a whole, a general theme runs across it. Also, if your brand sells an array of products, avoid posting three pictures in a row of the same products. Mix things up so that you avoid focusing on the same thing, photo after photo. For instance, you could include office shots, lifestyle shots and inspiration shots followed by product shots.

3. Use hashtags wisely

Hashtags are a perfect resource in that they enable you to easily expand your audience and boost your following. But be careful how many hashtags you use and which hashtags you adopt. You should only use relevant hashtags and avoid using 20 – 30 within a single picture. Between two and five is a more suitable number and this will also make your content more presentable and approachable.

As you can see there are plenty of ways to use Instagram properly, and by adopting some (if not all) of the tactics mentioned in parts 1 and 2 of this series, you stand a far better chance of increasing your Instagram following which will naturally lead to more site visitors. This in turn will have a positive impact on conversions, which will lead to a boost in sales.
