In marketing, the words that we use are just as important as the way that we write.

There’s no use in writing a fantastic piece of content if it doesn’t feature specific words designed to resonate with your audience and have a desired effect.

Words have the ability to change the world, which is why any writer, whether he or she is an author, a copywriter, a poet or a marketer, must be meticulous in their choice of words in order to appropriately get their message across in an engaging, entertaining, enlightening or powerful way.

With that in mind, here are some examples of powerful language that you can use to make the biggest impact on your audience:

Personal

Personal language is language that uses words such as ‘you,’ ‘parents,’ ‘kids,’ ‘pets’ and so on. This type of language connects with your audience and makes them feel heavily associated with it. When you talk directly to your audience, their attention is immediately captivated and they are more likely to read through right to the end of the piece. This sort of language helps your audience to strongly relate to your products or services and tells your audience exactly what they can expect to achieve from investing in them.

Economical

Next, we have economical language. This sort of language tells your readers exactly what they want to hear: that a good bargain is coming their way. Throwing in words with an economical focus is a highly effective sales strategy with a proven success rate. So, instead of saying something like, “everything for sale at rock-bottom prices,” instead say, “super-sale” or “mega discounts.” The shorter the statement, the quicker it is to digest and the sooner your customers will get shopping!

Colourful

Certain words can be described as more ‘colourful’ than others, which is why it’s a great idea to feed them into your content. For instance, if you run a dental company manufacturing toothpastes and toothbrushes, you should incorporate words into your content such as ‘deluxe,’ ‘twinkle,’ ‘shine’ and ‘sparkle’.  There are so many clever ways to play with language to give your content a pop of life and make it more engaging.

Grammatical

No piece of content is a good piece of content if it contains spelling and grammar errors, as this reflects badly on your business, demonstrating you as lackadaisical, unprofessional and uncaring. Instead, run through your content with a fine toothcomb before publishing it, checking for any spelling, grammar and punctuation mistakes.

As you can see, there are plenty of ways to craft high-quality content using vocabulary that is powerful and effective.
