Bill Shankly

Bill Shankly was a Scottish footballer and manager of the UK’s Liverpool Football Club between 1959 and 1974. He was widely regarded as one of the greatest football managers of all times and devoted himself to rebuilding the club from a second division football team to a leading, first division football club.

Shankly was strategic and calculated which is what enabled him to achieve such success as a manager. During his time at Liverpool he earned a promotion, won three first division championships, two FA Cups and one EUFA cup. He took the company to brand new heights, enabling it to become one of the greatest football teams of its time.   

Shankly was admired for his honesty, his modern approach to business and his passion for being one of the greatest managers to have ever run a football club. He had a charismatic personality, was loved by many but most importantly he poured his knowledge, enthusiasm and ideas into his new team and was determined to succeed.

Shankley can teach us a great deal about successful marketing. First of all, you need to build your business from the bottom up, focusing heavily on customer satisfaction.
